Kevin

As she stares through the window on this dreary rainy day she is reminded of her past. It was a typical girl meets boy story she was in love, or so she thought. She remembers how Kevin would send her flowers just because it was Tuesday. Or how he would randomly show up at her door step and take her out on the most amazing adventures. He was all she wanted, all she needed; she was high on life and never wanted to come down. She never really noticed it at first, but as each day passed it would become more and more apparent. You know at first it started with little things like, if they were at the mall and she saw one of her old guy friends and said hi Kevin would tug at her to leave or say they were in a hurry. Or the time when she was on the phone with her cousin, and he thought that… Well you get the picture. One day on this extremely cold and solemn night he came home from the bar enraged, yelling and screaming about how he knew what she did and he knew that she was cheating on him. The thing is it wasn’t true she tried to reason with him she told him she’s been at home all day and that she even made him dinner but he didn’t believe her. He hit her… At first, at first it didn’t hurt because he said it was an accident and that it would never happen again. Then the accidents started getting worse she told her friends and family that she fell down the stairs or that she fell off her bike, but then she had to stop contacting them after a while because she thought all she needed was him. Kevin was now all she wanted and without Kevin she wouldn’t be living. After a while it seemed as if he started getting distant, he wouldn’t come home for days at a time. When she would call he sometimes wouldn’t even pick up not even to say hi. She started getting sick at one point but she thanked God it was curable. That’s when she finally realized that staying wasn’t worth it. The bruises weren’t worth it. Losing her family and friends wasn’t worth it. So slowly but surely she walked away. He would sometimes call her on drunken nights saying how he missed her and how he was sorry, but she learned from her previous mistakes and knew that going back was not in her best interest. As she looked through her window on this dreary rainy day she knew she made the right choice.
