Redemption

I was once a false teacher,
They used to call me the twisted preacher.
I would take God’s word,
And mix it till it blurred.
Then I presented it to the people,
Making them more and more crippled.
You see Gods’ word is a sword,
And feeding those lost souls kept me in control.
I was the literal definition of a liar,
Especially since I was leading them straight into the fire.
I filled their lives with so much deceit,
Right until the ground was pulled from under my feet.
See unbeknownst to me I had a strong foundation,
Because in my youth I used to praise him with so much
passion.
So on that day, I heard a voice,
Which pierced me to the core.
And when I tried to seek the source,
I found out it was the Lord.
You see I thought I was too far gone to be saved,
Especially considering the way I had behaved.
See I knew what I had done was wrong,
But in my mind I thought I was too far gone.
What I didn’t know is that God forgives,
So for him is why I decided to live.
No more moving in the dark,
It was time for me to do my part.
By Grace, I was saved,
And that is the one thing I did not know I had always craved.
I was once a false teacher,
Now they call me the redeemed preacher.

  1. Beautifully written! Not only does the poem provide insight in to experiences many people experience during life and conflicts of the heart, the rhythmical movement of the poem make the words come alive. As a reader, I appreciate the transparency of the poem. Continue your evolution. May your pen, ideas, and words be blessed by God.

  2. This is really good Ola!!! Well articulated and definitely Holy Spirit inspired!!

This got me really well “Right until the ground was pulled from under my feet.” Very powerful poetic statement indeed!!

My prayer for you is that; the Grace to continue to fellowship with the Triune God shall continue to be upon you in Jesus mighty name !
