You Will Overcome

Why are you cast down oh my soul,

And why are you in torment within me.

I know that this world can seem so cold,

But that’s why you were set apart to be free.

You are not bound by chains to blend in,

But instead you were made to roam and lead.

See I know things may seem hard,

But realize you have gotten so far.

If it was your time to go,

This precise moment you will not know.

You’re still breathing you’re still here,

So it’s time to let go of this fear.

There will always be obstacles in life,

But just know you were made to shine so bright.

You will overcome,

So stop looking so glum.

You are so much more beautiful when you smile,

So please hang on for just a little while.

You are strong,

And those who say otherwise will always be wrong.

So hang tight my love,

For you will always have help from above.
